Basic healthcare for cats

Cats are independent spirits – it is part of their attraction as pets – but they do need looking after. They have a basic need for food and water, of course, but should also be provided with places to hide, to scratch, to escape (preferable up high), to sleep and to do their toileting. They will benefit from time to play and most will love to be groomed.

Responsible cat owners will make sure their cat is:

  • Neutered
  • Vaccinated against disease
  • Microchipped
  • Regularly treated against parasites
  • Seen by a vet for regular health checks and when ill or injured

Our friends at Cats Protection have produced a comprehensive leaflet to help you care for your cat.
