Over recent years, we have developed plans to improve the kennel facilities at our Rescue Centre. Planning permission has now been secured to convert a former stable block into 10 new kennels.
We currently have 6 kennels and the new facility will enable us to take in many more dogs.
Stuart Davidson Architecture Ltd, Selkirk have been appointed to manage the project and it is expected that building works will commence by early summer 2020.
The project will cost in the region of £160,000. So far the total raised is £130,000, which includes grant support from Support Adoption For Pets; Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust; Elizabeth CF McGregor-Dziniak Charitable Trust for Animals and donations from our supporters.
We still need your help to reach our funding target. So please fundraise, donate and support our 2020 events
How you can help us raise money for our new kennels…
Fundraising doesn’t have to be hard, so why not try one of these simple ideas first? Could you get your friends, family, colleagues or classmates to do it with you too?
- Sponsorship – doesn’t have to be about sporting challenges….. climb a mountain, do a silence, dye your hair…. do the chores for a week. If you are a dog owner, you may want to take part in our annual Big Borders Dog Walk. This walk is suitable for all ages and abilities (of humans and dogs!)….. full details are published on our website and Facebook page in the months leading up to the event.
- Coffee morning – Ok, I know it sounds a bit dull, but why not make it different… a vintage tea party theme, complete with 1940’s/1950’s clothes for the people serving the food and drink?
- Why not turn your next party or celebration into a fundraiser? Could you ask for donations instead of presents? Nominate us for a retirement collection, or donations to Borders Pet Rescue instead of anniversary or birthday gifts?
- Non-uniform day
- Hold a quiz night
