At Borders Pet Rescue, we believe that pet insurance is an important part of being a responsible pet owner. Whilst rehoming a pet is an exciting and rewarding time, it’s really important to think about the potential costs you could incur should your pet suffer from any unexpected illnesses and injuries.
Having a good pet insurance policy allows you to concentrate on what’s best for your pet, knowing help is there for the cost of unexpected treatment. However it’s important to be aware that not all pet insurance is the same. Some policies limit the amount of time or money that you can claim for, so we suggest that you don’t choose a policy based on price alone.
Like most of the major rehoming charities (including Dogs’ Trust, Blue Cross, Wood Green) we work in partnership with Petplan, the UK’s favourite pet insurer. Petplan are committed to keeping pets healthy and owners happy, and their success can be judged by the fact that over 90% of their customers renew each year.
So that the animals rehomed from Borders Pet Rescue have the very best start in their new homes, we have an agreement with Petplan to give all rehomed dogs, cats and rabbits (subject to certain exceptions relating to age and breed) 4 weeks’ free insurance to offer you financial peace of mind.
As a new owner you can be reassured that this 4 weeks’ free insurance immediately covers all injuries and new illnesses to include up to £4,000 veterinary fees for all injuries and illnesses. If you decide to take out a full policy, Petplan will give 10% of your premium to Borders Pet Rescue and a further 10% each year you renew your policy. This money helps us towards the cost of running our rescue centre.
